2019-20 CALENDAR

2019-20 School Calendar APPROVED!

The Mesquite ISD Board of Trustees voted to approve the 2019-20 school calendar at its regular February board meeting.

Here are a few highlights:

  • Mesquite ISD’s District of Innovation status allows us to have some flexibility with our start date. The first day of school will be August 19, which is one week earlier than the standard start date for the state.

  • The second district professional learning day is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 5, which is also Election Day. This is an added security measure, ensuring that students are not on campus when many strangers who would otherwise not be on campus are there to vote.

  • Fair Day falls on Columbus Day, a holiday for many federal workers.

  • Spring Break aligns with most (if not all) of our surrounding districts.

  • The April 10 Bad Weather Make-up Day falls on Good Friday.

  • The last day of school will be May 28, unless we have a bad weather day. This allows us to conclude the year by June 1, a preference of parents and teachers. It is also beneficial for summer school and college schedules.
